As Chairman I would like to report the club activities
for 2008.
At our 2007 AGM we had some changed to the committee with Kevin taking over as
vice chairman, Kathleen as treasurer and Ann Marie and Eamon as secretary with
Brian and Ronnie joining as committee members. I would like to thank them all
and the rest of the committee for all there hard work over the last year.
Our annual dinner went off very well with a good turn out of members we were well
looked after by the hotel and entertained by Country Harmony and box car Brian
we all had a very good night. At the dinner a donation of £1000 was made
to motor neurone disease.
Our runs started off with Easter Monday where we had a very good turn out and
it was very nice to see round all the memorabilia that Raymond has acquired over
th years. At the meeting the club presented Walter Kerr with a cheque for £1000
for kidney research.
April we were off to Monaghan for Sean's run where we were very well looked after
by Sean and Phyllis. At our April meeting we had Andy McGowan and Jim Boyce from
TBF Thompson who gave us a very interesting talk and slide show on the history
of the company. May we had our two-day run, the venue this year was Sligo where
we were very well looked after, good food and accommodation and good entertainment
on Saturday night thanks to Trevor for all his hard work.
In June this year the club ran a mini bus to Gaydon where 16 members had a very
successful weekend we were blessed with good weather it was nice to see such a
wide range of vehicles with the star of the show the Leyland Turbin of Tony Knowles.
August the County Antrim run was well attended some lovely scenery and we finished
off at the Fort Royal for our meal thanks to Kathlee, Ronnie and Harry. At our
August meeting David Craggs from Heritage Commercial Magazine came and gave us
a very interesting talk. The memorial run I was unable to attend but things were
in the safe hands of Kevin. A very good turn out of vehicles, finishing off at
Tullyglass where Mervyn Gracey received the memorial shield many thanks to Kevin.
October was the Rathfriland run not blessed with good weather this year but that
didn't put many off a tremendous turn out of over 40 vehicles we were treated
tothe usual Gracey hospitality finishing at La Mon where we all received a finishers
award many thanks to Mervyn and the family and friends who made this possible.
Our end of season run was a hugh success with a very good turn out of vehicles,
good accommodation, good food and plenty of good craic was had by all thanks to
Michael for a excellent weekend. In a very depressed market our club has had a
very successful year with all our events well supported and I would like to thank
all the committee and members for making this possible.
I would also like to thank all the sponsors and people who brought gifts for the
raffles a very big thank you.
